The Danish Bar and Law Society and the Code of Conduct

Bech-Bruun is a member of the Association of Danish Law Firms (Danske Advokater). All Bech-Bruun's lawyers are admitted to practise law by the Department of Civil Affairs under the Danish Ministry of Justice and are members of the Danish Bar and Law Society (Advokatsamfundet). As such, our lawyers are subject to the code of conduct of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

Insurance and guarantee

Bech-Bruun has taken out professional liability insurance for all its lawyers with the insurance company:

The liability insurance covers any legal practice regardless of where such practice is conducted.

Codan Forsikring furthermore acts as a guarantor for Bech-Bruun in accordance with the rules of the Danish Bar and Law Society.

Bech-Bruun's general Terms of Business stipulate, see clause 7, that disputes are subject to Danish law and must be heard by the City Court of Copenhagen.

Conflicts of interests

We do not accept cases for clients in which a current or imminent risk of a conflict of interests exists. To identify potential conflicts of interests, we have established in-house procedures and a thorough quality assurance system. Any issues of doubt about a potential conflict of interests will be considered by our Conflict of Interests Committee chaired by General Counsel Alice Grünfeld.

Confidentiality

Bech-Bruun is subject to a duty of confidentiality in respect of the affairs of our clients. We prioritise treating all information received from or about our clients as strictly confidential. Accordingly, all of Bech-Bruun’s employees are obliged to observe an extended duty of confidentiality, and we place strong emphasis on security procedures for handling confidential material.

We have in-house guidelines in place for both partners and employees to comply with the requirements of the Danish Securities Trading Act (værdipapirhandelsloven) concerning the disclosure of inside information about listed companies and any trade in listed securities.

Banking and payment details

Amounts paid into Bech-Bruun's client accounts are deposited in client accounts with a Danish financial institution, where they are managed according to applicable regulations. The amounts are deposited at the client's expense and risk, and Bech-Bruun assumes no responsibility for the financial institution's solvency.

Complaints

At Bech-Bruun, we work hard to accommodate our clients’ expectations of our services and to render best quality advice tailored to the individual needs of our clients.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, our legal advice and other services rendered are subject to our Terms of Business.

If, contrary to expectations, we should fail to meet your expectations causing you to complain about a lawyer or the course of events in a matter, please send an email to the partner responsible for the case.

We will process your complaint as quickly as possible.

Bech-Bruun is subject to the Danish Bar and Law Society’s general rules on complaints, and any complaints about our services or feed may be filed with the Disciplinary Board (Advokatnævnet). Complaints must be filed digitally via the Disciplinary Board’s complaints portal.
