Johannes Grove Nielsen

With many years' experience in the area of maritime and transport law, Johannes Grove Nielsen is considered one of the leading Danish shipping lawyers, in Denmark as well as internationally.

Johannes is involved in all aspects of maritime and transport law as well as offshore – including acquisition and sale, charter party agreements and bunker disputes, and he handles cases concerning damage to or loss of goods at sea, on land or in the air. He is known for his solution-oriented approach and deep understanding of the client's requirements, and he is also an experienced litigator – particularly in the area of the law of torts in the maritime and transport sector, general commercial disputes and insolvency.

Johannes primarily advises large Danish and non-Danish shipowners, P&I clubs and insurance companies. He is part of Bech-Bruun's Cross-Border Insolvency Shipping Team and is particularly experienced in US chapter 11 and 15 rules. Further, as Denmark's first practicing maritime lawyer, he has an MBA in Shipping & Logistics from CBS.

With the large international focus, Johannes is currently involved in several international organisations. He has received much international recognition and is Vice Chair of Maritime Committee at the International Bar Association (IBA). In 2012 he was appointed to Berlingske Business’s Talent100.
