In first half of 2020, Bech-Bruun has been advising on more M&A transactions on the Danish market than any other law firm. A market which has been significantly affected by COVID-19.
The international agency Mergermarket tracks all major transactions in Denmark and internationally. According to their most recent league tables, which was just published, Bech-Bruun advised on the highest number of major transactions in the Danish market during the first half of 2020.
Through many years, Bech-Bruun has focused intensely on M&A and transactional work and has been leading the Mergermarket league tables. In 2020, the consequences of COVID-19 have however strongly affected the M&A market:
”We have experienced a declining Danish M&A market during the 1st half of 2020 in which the total number of transactions is roughly the half of the years prior. In light of that development, we are very pleased that we have been able to maintain our position on the Danish market.” says Jakob Kristensen, partner and co-head of Bech-Bruun’s M&A group.
A number of transactions, mostly cross-border, within the health, financial, IT and energy sectors, among others, have contributed to Bech-Bruun leading the M&A league tables.
”We are optimistic with respect to the second half of 2020, where we look into a decent pipeline of transactions. Provided that the strong recovery in Denmark and the EU as a whole continues over the summer, we expect that the M&A market will get back on track after the holiday break.” comments partner Simon Milthers, co-head of M&A within Bech-Bruun.
