Bech-Bruun advises Milch-Union Hocheifel on merger with Arla
The eighth largest dairy company in Germany, Milch-Union Hocheifel, is part of a large merger with the Danish and British dairy companies Arla and Milk Link. The merger fell into place last week. Bech-Bruun advised Milch-Union Hocheifel on the Danish conditions relevant to the merger.
Having great insight into German-Danish legal matters and being a member of the Bech-Bruun German Business Group, Ole Nørgaard, partner, was involved in the advisory process together with Thomas Frøbert, another partner who has many years' experience within the international business tax area.
The merger has attracted attention in Denmark due to its size and it being cross-border, involving cooperatively-owned dairy companies. As a result of the merger, Arla and Milch-Union Hocheifel will be Germany's third largest dairy company.
A formal decision will be made in relation to the merger on 26 June 2012 when the cooperative owners are to vote on the merger.
