Welcome to Bech-Bruun's first managing associates
It is with great pleasure that we welcome the very first managing associates of Bech-Bruun. As at 1 January 2018, Mark Gall, Morten Risby Hansen, Lars Terp and Thomas Christian Tune may call themselves managing associates of Bech-Bruun. This position is a totally new and attractive career path in Bech-Bruun's organisation for experienced lawyers with substantial expertise.
As managing associates, Mark, Morten, Lars and Thomas will be part of the day-to-day strategic management together with the partners of their respective practice groups and they will be assigned increased managerial responsibility, which includes, among other things, the ongoing implementation of the Bech-Bruun.
"The conventional career structure of the legal industry has often fallen short of offering attractive career paths to highly experienced lawyers. Several criteria must be met to become a law firm partner, and not everyone is interested making partner and what this career may involve. In order for us to retain and make better use of some of our most experienced senior associates, we have spent some time and resources rethinking our career structure and creating a new attractive path that offers more responsibility, strategic influence and management," says Christian Ejvin Andersen, managing director.
The object of this new job category is to allow a managing associate to take part in the managerial tasks in general; that is, to be responsible for the overall, internal project control and management and to be in charge of large assignments as well as to contribute substantial professional expertise to the performance of such tasks and assignments. Given various weights, the tasks and assignments will include tasks that require special expertise; being a mentor and coach to newly minted associates and those with only a few years of experience; performing certain professional management tasks; participating in strategic work and assuming responsibility for the implementation of strategies.
The four new managing associates
Mark Gall's special expertise is Danish and Community competition law. Mark assists Bech-Bruun's clients with competition law compliance, the conclusion and review of agreements with competition law aspects as well as competition law and contractual law assistance in connection with the transfer of undertakings.
Morten Risby Hansen primarily specialises in company and business law as well as business transfers. He advises small start-up companies, medium-sized businesses as well as large Danish and international businesses.
Lars Terp specialises in M&A and – since 2002 – has gained considerable experience in the purchase and sale of companies, company law restructurings, reorganisation, company formations and joint ventures. Lars extends his legal services to a number of Danish and international clients, including private equity funds and companies in the food industry, IT, consultancy, pharmaceutical industry, shipping and manufacturing.
Thomas Christian Thune specialises in employment and labour law, advising clients on all aspects of employment law contractual relationships. Thomas has extensive experience in handling employment law issues that may arise during business transfers, and he also renders special advice on bonus schemes, non-competition and non-solicitation clauses, posting of employees abroad and collective dismissals.
