Bech-Bruun still in the lead in the M&A area

For the fourth consecutive year, Bech-Bruun is at the very top of the list of law firms in Denmark having advised on the highest number of M&A transactions. This is evident from the annual survey from international intelligence and news agency Mergermarket.

Mergermarket has just published its annual survey of the M&A market and with 48 M&A transactions in 2015, Bech-Bruun is once again the law firm topping the list in Denmark measured by number of transactions.

Bech-Bruun’s continued lead position is the result of many years of specialisation and committed focus on the M&A area. This coupled with an M&A market clearly on the up, in which large and substantial transactions are starting to prevail.   

“Internationally, 2015 was a big transaction year. We saw some of the largest M&A transactions in history, such as Pfizer’s and Allergan’s historic acquisition agreement. This is testament to a market having seen growth in the size of transactions. At Bech-Bruun, we have in 2015 assisted on some of the largest and most important transactions and we have more in the pipeline”, says Jacob Hjortshøj, chairman of Bech-Bruun’s executive committee and M&A partner.   

Bech-Bruun’s transactions include Teradyne’s acquisition of Danish robotics company Universal Robots, Maersk’s sale of Esvagt, the sale of Bluegarden on behalf of 44 Danish banks and Solix’s acquisition of Cembrit.  

Keen business understanding
In 2014, Bech-Bruun also took first place on the Danish list of the highest number of M&A transactions. And according to Jacob Hjortshøj, these positions are, among other things, caused by Bech-Bruun’s ability to combine the firm’s high level of professional expertise with a keen business understanding.   

“Our continued lead position in the Danish M&A market is not merely the result of many years of specialisation and experience in this area, but also the result of the fact that we, on each and every assignment, provide legal advice based on a deep insight into our clients’ business activities and the markets they operate in.
