Personal data protection

Challenges and requirements

The protection of personal data has, as a result of the global and technological development, become an increasing priority. Many businesses and public authorities perceive the rules on the handling of personal data to be complex, restrictive and difficult to employ in practice. The area is even more complicated for international group companies, which while grappling with the applicable laws in different jurisdictions, must also establish a uniform handling procedure.

How we can help

We have advised on personal data protection issues since the area was regulated. Consequently, we can both assist our clients to comply with the applicable legislation and ensure that such advice works in practice. Due to our participation in international networks and forums, we are continually up-to-date with the newest developments, e.g. concerning anti-corruption and whistleblowing issues.

Our clients are typically international concerns with head offices or subsidiary companies in Denmark within, e.g. the finance and IT sectors. We also assist Danish businesses within, e.g. the health sector. Most recently, we advised numerous businesses on the establishment of whistleblower programmes, the online collection of sensitive customer information and marketing campaigns with compliance in numerous countries.

We advise on, among others:

  • International compliance programmes
  • Data transfer between company groups, e.g. international groups
  • Whistleblower programmes
  • Outsourcing, cloud computing etc.
  • Processing of employee information

  • Personal data in marketing campaigns
  • Processing of customer information during mergers and acquisitions
  • Personal data processing agreements
  • Declarations of consent
  • Danish Data Protection Agency notifications
