Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Voluntary CSR initiatives of businesses and "soft law" issues are increasingly turned into legislation, confirming the connection between law and CSR. Being a law firm, Bech-Bruun finds CSR to be particularly interesting in relation to our specific core competences within legal services such as business transfers, compliance, labour and employment law, energy and supply and our Chinese Desk.

We have the required insight into these business areas and may optimise our solutions by making a targeted effort to work with CSR. In 2012, we have taken on Partner Håkun Djurhuus, one of Denmark's most prominent lawyers within environmental law, as well as CSR adviser Morten Hove Henriksen who has acquired CSR experience from two of the leading CSR businesses in Denmark and who is studying the coupling of CSR and M&A.

CSR from within
One thing is the advisory services offered to our clients. Another thing is the CSR initiatives on which we wish to build our organisation. Financial, social and environmental concerns do not suffice; motivation and passion are also required. Our values are decency, commitment, quality and respect, from which especially our clients and employees will benefit.

Put into practice, we have worked strategically with CSR for several years and have for example published three UN Global Compact reports re-affirming our commitment to sustainable development and informing stakeholders of our initiatives. Our passion has resulted in the opening of two schools in Africa in cooperation with Save the Children, numerous pro bono partnerships and a comprehensive in-house training programme, Academy Clients, and the annual "Professional Development Day".
