Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Voluntary CSR initiatives of businesses and "soft law" issues are increasingly turned into legislation, emphasising the connection between law and CSR. We link CSR to our core competences within legal services and advise on, for example, CSR due diligence, green marketing, whistleblower programmes, climate regulation and supplier issues.
We also assist businesses in integrating CSR into their value chains by way of, for example, management systems, compliance programmes and product development.

CSR from within
We engage in CSR activities supporting the values upon which we have founded our business. We have built two schools in Africa together with Save the Children Denmark, coached entrepreneurs in Kenya and entered into numerous pro bono partnerships with organisations, such as Red Cross, WWF, Hold Danmark Rent, which is a network organisation for keeping Denmark clean, and the NGO Foreningen Grønlandske Børn working to ensure good lives of equal opportunities for all children in Greenland. Moreover, knowledge sharing and ongoing education is a priority area for us, and we offer a comprehensive in-house training programme through our Academy for clients.
In recent years, we have put great efforts into reducing our resource consumption. As a result, our consumption of heat, water and electricity per employee has never been as low as today, and we have never before generated as small amounts of waste per employee.
Our work and business practices are based on decency and respect for our clients, employees and surroundings. Our code of conduct expresses our expectations of employees and business partners.
Since 2009, we have been a signatory of the UN Global Compact and report annually on our CSR activities and results.

AdvokatKODEKS - a new code of conduct
In 2015, we were one of the first law firms to adopt the new code of conduct "AdvokatKODEKS" introduced by the Association of Danish Law firms. Responsible business conduct is a crucial element in the way we do business. Consequently, adopting the new code of conduct was a natural step for us. Adopting the code of conduct means that we will continue to perform our work based on the following five principles: Openness, social responsibility, handling of ethical dilemmas, focus on clients and employees, and diversity. Having adopted the code of conduct introduced by the Association of Danish Law Firms, we undertake to include the five principles in our work, which all contribute to value creation within society as well as the best possible advisory services for our clients.
As official pro bono partner of the Mary Foundation – HRH Crown Princess Mary’s Foundation – we make our legal expertise available to the Foundation. Pro bono work is a natural part of Bech-Bruun’s business. Our pro bono work helps us make a huge difference in cooperation with a number of charitable organisations, which, thanks to their dedication and drive, have a positive impact on our community. The Mary Foundation has been set up with the mission to combat social isolation – based on the belief that everyone has a right to belong. The objective of the Mary Foundation is to improve the lives of children, adults and families who - as a result of their environment, heredity, illness or other circumstances - find themselves socially isolated or excluded from society.
